The Ottawa Folk Festival and GCTC present an Acoustic Waves concert featuring Anne Lindsay and Jason Fowler, on Sunday, February 10, starting at 8 p.m., at the Irving Greenberg Theatre Centre, (1233 Wellington Street, at Holland).

Anne Lindsay has established herself as one of Canada's most engaging and versatile musicians, adapting her unique violin and fiddle styles - and her voice - to the eclectic sounds of Canada's rich cultural traditions. Her wide-ranging repertoire encompasses folk, jazz, rock, classical, country, old-time, Celtic, Cajun, Klezmer and Scandinavian styles. In addition to working with her own band, Anne is a much sought-after performer and arranger for some of Canada's top musical acts, including Blue Rodeo, Jim Cuddy and John McDermott. She has performed and recorded with artists such as The Chieftains, Led Zeppelin, Dionne Warwick and Natalie McMaster. In other ventures, she has played the role of folk fiddler in the "Lord of the Rings" stage show in Toronto, and has travelled to the Arctic on several occasions to teach music to Nunavut youth. Anne's latest CD, "News from Up the Street", won awards for Best Solo Instrumentalist and Producer of the Year at the 2007 Canadian Folk Music Awards. She was named Violinist of the Year at the 2007 National Jazz Awards.

Jason Fowler is a guitarist and composer whose work reflects a wide range of influences including folk, country, blues, classical and jazz. Known for his tasteful guitar playing and expressive songwriting, he has released four solo albums in addition to his ongoing work with Anne Lindsay and other artists. Jason, who holds a degree in guitar performance from McGill University, began playing the guitar at age 7 and started performing publicly at age 12. He is a two-time winner at the prestigious Walnut Valley National Guitar Championships, with top awards for both finger picking and flat picking. His composition entitled "Midwestern Lament" was chosen as Instrumental Composition of the Year by the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals in 2004, and his work is featured on "Six Strings North of the Border", a compilation of great Canadian guitar music.
