England’s dynamic folk- rock group Oysterband have been touring the world now for over 25 years. In 2004 they recorded a brilliant cd, The Big Session Vol.1, (with guests Eliza Carthy, June Tabor, Show of Hands etc.) and closely followed this with a DVD of The 25th. Anniversary Concert. The Big Session Festival has now become one of England’s premier music festivals, hosted and produced by the band.
The band is comprised of John Jones (lead vocal, squeezeboxes), Ian Telfer (fiddle, concertina, vocals) Alan Prosser (guitars, mandolin, vocals) Chopper (bass, cello, vocals) and Lee (drums, vocals).
The heartbeat of the band is a deep- rooted love of the traditional music of Britain. The Oysters says “ A tradition though that dealt in integrity, passion, human emotion – songs that make you want to dance, laugh, cry, jump for joy. Hey that could be folk music, it could be rock music…maybe it’s just GOOD music. Whatever it is, it has helped the Oysters become one of the most irresistible bands of the last decade”. Bet you can’t sit still at this one!
