Almonte's Celtfest Features Acclaimed Ottawa Valley Talent and An Exciting Expanded Format



The 11th Annual Almonte Celtfest, held in the natural amphitheatre of Gemmill Park, extends over two days, with a great Kick-off Concert and Community Barbecue on Saturday, July 14 from 5pm to 8:30, and the full festival line-up on Sunday, July 15, from 12 noon to to 8pm.The festival showcases the great traditions and contemporary stylings of Celtic music, song and dance from the Ottawa area, and the Ottawa Valley, and the talent is truly outstanding. Celtfest 2007 is partnering with the Almonte General Hospital and Fairview Manor Foundation, with proceeds going towards this important community project.

The Saturday night Kick-off Concert, on the newly acquired Community Stage features the dynamic up tempo energy of Celtic Moon and Terri-Lynn Mahusky, this area's great emerging talent, Brock Zeman, One Square Mile - a wonderful Celtic influenced Bluegrass Band , the exquisitely talented singer-songwriter Lynne Hanson, Almonte and Clayton's own Kaylen Prescott, Corkery Road, terrific musicians from the Carp area, fiddle and dance performances with Joey Graff and Joel Frenette, and more.

Following the outdoor Celtfest Kick-off Concert, Almonte's four terrific pub/restaurants - Ironworks Restaurant, J.R's Pub, Naismith Pub, and Postmaster's Pub transform into Celtfest After Hours Venues, featuring the evening's main stage performers from 9:00 p.m onwards. The Celtfest Pub Passport, at $5.00 per person allows people to circulate among the 4 venues, to take in the ambience, and great entertainment.

Sunday, July 15, from Noon to 8.p.m, Celtfest's Main Event features Eganville's Searson critically acclaimed from their recent tours across North America, , Sarah Burnell, Young Performer of the Year, at the Canadian Folk Music Awards, and the great talents of The Barley Shakers, Adam Puddington, Kelly Sloan, Gilles Roy Dancers, Martine Billette, Terri-Lynn Mahusky, The Schartz's, Robynn Glockling, Matt Pepin, Kyle Felhaver and Friends, the Monday Night Fiddlers, Bernie Costello and the Valley Rovers, One Square Mile Bluegrass, Lynne Hanson, The Ryans, and more !

The O'Connell Acoustic Session Tent hosts an open all afternoon session, and invites musicians who wish to join in this outstanding continuous session which celebrates the great traditional music of the Valley, and its Celtic origins.

The Celtfest Rugby Challenge Cup is back with the Lanark Highlanders taking on the Bytown Beavers in a return match from the 2006 hard fought match, at 2pm at Gemmill Park Field.

Almonte's Celtfest also features outstanding food and refreshment venues, and a range of wonderful Celtic inspired crafts, and artisan produced festival clothing, jewelry, and art-pieces, and a Little Celts children's area.
