The Nepean Concert Band, with special guest Sarah Burnell and Ensemble, come to Centrepointe Theatre for their annual winter performance. The NEPEAN CONCERT BAND, INC. (NCB) has provided musical entertainment in the National Capital since 1975, when it began as a night-class offered by the Carleton Board of Education. The NCB's current membership comprises 60 volunteer musicians who enjoy playing classical, blues, marches, big-band, Broadway/Film/TV and contemporary concert band selections. Sarah Burnell hails from Ottawa, Canada, but her musical roots may be found in Cape Breton, Scotland, Ireland, and Québec. Her energetic fiddling reflects the wide variety of coaches with whom she has studied, including Alasdair Fraser, Jerry Holland, Shannon McDade-Johnson, April Verch, David Greenberg, Sandy MacIntyre, Stan Chapman, Carl MacKenzie, and Glen Graham. In July, 2006, Sarah toured Scotland, and she enjoyed her first taste of Shetland, Norwegian, and Welsh fiddling! | |||||||
