Join us for an evening of storytelling and song with Gail Anglin and Neville Miller. "Pass-the-hat" donations to the artists and SLOWest are welcomed and appreciated.
Gail Anglin is one of Ottawa’s rare singing storytellers. She has appeared in several musical storytelling shows at the National Arts Centre’s 4th Stage, including “The Lighter Side of Love”; “For the Love of Pete – Songs and Stories from The Life And Times of Pete Seeger”; and “A House Divided: Songs and Stories from the American Civil War.”
She and Neville Miller often join together to harmonize traditional songs of the British Isles, sharing with audiences their enjoyment of the humour, drama, and history to be found in this music.
Born in North Lincolnshire, England, Neville Miller grew up amid the Folk Revival of the ‘60’s and began singing in the local club (Chelmsford) in the late ‘70’s. A stalwart member of Ottawa’s twice monthly Song Circle, Neville produced an evening of songs associated with the Industrial Revolution for the History faculty at Carleton University in 1999. He is admired for his recitations of the Stanley Holloway monologues at Ottawa Storytellers events, and has performed at the NAC’s Fourth Stage. Neville is a devotee of traditional songs of the English speaking world, and is keen to keep the tradition alive.
